My latest obsession

When Miley Cyrus first started to saturate the national consciousness by way of Hannah Montana, I wanted to hate her, I really did. When I saw the grotesquely tacky Hannah Montana DVDs filling up entire walls at Blockbuster, I would shudder and say something like, "remember when kids' TV used to be good?" I couldn't stand the psuedo-rockstar clothing that she was sporting or her fakefakefake blonde wig or the fact that her name was Hannah Montana. At that point I had never heard the name Miley Cyrus and I had never heard her sing or watched her on TV. All I knew was that little girls all over the world basically thought that she was the second coming of Jesus and it kind of scared me. It was actually kind of easy to hate her.
That is until I heard this album. It's no secret that I have incredibly questionable taste in music. I bought (as in SPENT MONEY) on Hilary Duff's albums, if that says anything at all about the kind of music I sometimes enjoy. I was no match for Miley's scientifically-designed-to-be-infectious teen-bop tunes. It's the kind of music that makes me want to have pillow fights and jump up and down on my bed while singing into a hairbrush and making smores. I couldn't help but try to convert all of my friends to Miley-dom at any opportunity I got. "You have to listen to this!" I would beg. "It's really not that bad, really!"

I was discussing Miley with one of my roommates earlier this year and that's when she mentioned the Miley And Mandy Show. Curious, I searched YouTube and found a few of the episodes. I was immediately hooked. If The Miley And Mandy Show was a solid, I would totally crush it up into a powder and snort it. Or melt it and use a hypodermic needle to inject it into my arm. That's how much I love it. Granted, it's just two girls goofing off in front of a camera, but the fact that one of the girls is incredibly famous makes the show so much more interesting. Not to mention the fact that Miley Cyrus has a surprisingly awesome sense of humor.
A lot of people have called Miley the new Britney Spears. Aside from the immense fame at a very young age, I don't really see any resemblance. True, they're both Disney spawn, but Miley lacks the robotic personality-less scriptedness that Britney often had when she was that age. While Britney often seemed like she was being told what to do and how to act and was subsequently kind of schizophrenic with her "art," Miley really seems like she knows what she's doing. Her personality is so alive, so rambunctious, and so nauseatingly adorable. If you don't believe me (and if you honestly have the patience for my awful taste), have a look at these awesome episodes of the Miley And Mandy Show. Seriously, they'll probably give you diabetes:
Okay, I'm done.

max, I watch the tv show allllll the time.
AND I DON'T CARE WHO KNOWS IT!
I don't believe in guilty pleasures. I never feel guilty about the things that pleasure me ;)
alright, well i FINALLY in all my boredom watched these things. i like the dancing ones of course, but that doesn't mean Miley is cool because she has lots of money.
They might've been a little funny. At least the first one.
Don't expect to watch any more! haha
Unless there's more fun dance crews anyhow. ;)
