Valentine's Party Stuff

For any of you who don't know, I've been kind of sick the last two or three days. I think I probably caught it from my mother, my sister, or somebody at my Valentine's party last Friday. The symptoms are basically nausea, runny nose, and coughing. I was kind of hot and mildly feverish yesterday, but not so much today. There's definitely something going around, though. Since about two weeks ago, like EVERYBODY has been sick. And coughing. It's a wonder that I didn't get something earlier.

I'm not really sure if it's a good idea to miss two days of school.... but who am I to turn down that sort of thing? Cough? Yes. Sore throat? Yes. Head ache? Yes. I'm stayin' home! And since I'm home being all sick and stuff, instead of doing the homework that I should have done over the weekend and finding out what assignments I should be doing, I'm going to write a little recap of my Valentine's party!

For my party, we invited three families. As usual, only about two thirds of the people came. Luckily, everybody came later than the invitations said, because the whole getting ready for the party thing was rather hectic.

My mother, as I mentioned before, was sick with the flu or whatever for about a week. My sister was at ski club. I was in a panic trying to get everything ready in time. My father was in his own little world reading the newspaper, despite my constant screaming at him to PUT UP THE STREAMERS, ALREADY! I had a very, very, VERY specific image about how I wanted this party to be, and I think it kind of annoyed my family a little. Eventually, after a little tweaking of my PLAN, we did get the job done. And in time for our first guest, too! The only thing we didn't have was the projector for the movie, which one of our guests was bringing.

When Mr. Projector (and also the birthday boy) and his family came, however, we found out that he had forgotten the projector. He drove back home to get it, but when he came back, we found that he hadn't brought the connector cable to connect my computer to the projector. He said he assumed that my family, being as techy and computery as we are, would have a cable lying around somewhere.

Instead of making Mr. Projector go home and get the cable right away, we decided to eat first. Dinner consisted of chili (both vegetarian and meaty) along with sides of corn bread and hardened cow lactate [Chloe, if I said that wrong, please comment]. It was yummy.

Finally, after Mr. Projector went home to get the cable and Chloe, Tyler, and I watched an episode of The Simple Life Season One, we finally got down to setting up the projector. We decided the best way to show it would be to put the projector on top of the bookshelf behind the couch and project on to the screen (sheet) from there. I was hesitant to do this at first, because projectors cost like a kagillion dollars, but it worked out in the end.

After the projector and and stuff was all set up, it took a little while to get everybody situated in the living room. I had set it up with blankets and floor pillows all over the floor and it was pretty comfortable.

The movie was You've Got Mail, starring Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks. I think everybody pretty much enjoyed it, aside from my father interrupting the movie several times to make corny jokes and feign vomiting every time Meg Ryan said something cute.

Hah, that was fun.
But sorry, you got it wrong--it was rotted bovine lactation.
