A million doesn't seem like that much....
From fridayfive.org:
You have just won one million dollars:
1. Who do you call first? My mother, probably.
2. What is the first thing you buy for yourself? A brand new 12 inch powerbook G4!
3. What is the first thing you buy for someone else? I'd want to buy my family a new house, but that's sort of for me, too. :P I'd probably ask the people in my family what they want me to buy them.
4. Do you give any away? If yes, to whom? I might give some to my family.... maybe not my friends, you never know, some day they might not be my friends and I'd be like, "darn! Why did I give them that money?"
5. Do you invest any? If so, how? I'd probably save some for an apartment for when I go to college and stuff to go in it. I *really* don't want to stay in a dorm. Too gross.

I once commented to my 6th grade math teacher that one million didn't seem that big of a number. The rest of the class agreed with me. So she made us write one million in tally marks to the end of class. We only made it to around 500, and now I haven't looked at one million - or for that matter, one thousand - the same again.
I suppose it's a lot of dollars in terms of the amount of one dollar bills you'd have lying around if you got it all in singles, but what I meant was that it didn't seem like a lot in terms of stuff you could buy with it.
Yep - I can definately understand that.
